About the Hampton Bay Mena Remote

Mena is Hampton Bay's 54 in. indoor/outdoor LED fan line, offered in finishes from matte white to black with timber gray. When a Mena remote goes missing, this replacement brings back three speeds, off and light dimming from across the room or the deck.

It is made for Mena fans in every finish, from matte white to polished nickel with wood. Check the label on your old remote or on the fan's motor housing first. Pairing takes four DIP switches and a few minutes.

If the fan doesn't answer right away

The receiver only listens when it has power, so make sure the wall switch is on and the breaker is reset. Press the light button first; it gives the quickest sign that the codes match. If nothing happens, recheck each of the four switches against your written pattern.

One remote per fan

Each fan in the house should have its own remote set to its own code. If two fans share a code, one remote runs both, which surprises people in the next room. Pick a different pattern for each fan and set the matching receiver and remote together.

Before you order

Hampton Bay and Home Decorators Collection use several different remotes, so the label on your old remote is the surest match.
Receiver not included, so it won't add remote control to a fan that doesn't already have one.

Setup & Pairing

Setup takes a few minutes and needs no programming.

Remove the rear cover of the remote and find the row of tiny switches near the battery slot.
Line up switches 1 to 4 with the code from your old remote, flipping each one until the two match exactly.
Check switch 5: on allows dimming, off is for lights that can't dim.
Fit a 12V A23 battery, snap the cover back on and test the fan and the light.
If neither the old remote nor the receiver is available, test each of the 16 patterns in turn.
If two fans hang near each other, set them to different patterns so they don't respond together.

In the box: Mena replacement remote, wall mount holder, 2 mounting screws and a programming manual. Battery not included.

How long does setup take?

Usually a few minutes. If you have the old remote, you just copy four switches and put in a battery.

We don't recommend it. Keep it in the wall holder indoors or bring it in after use, since rain and cold are hard on the battery and electronics.

My light flickers after setup. What should I check?

Check switch 5. If the light isn't dimmable, set it to off so the remote only switches the light on and off.

Do I need to point it at the fan?

No. It uses radio, not infrared, so it works from anywhere in the room without aiming.

What comes in the box?

The remote, a wall mount holder, two mounting screws and a programming manual. The 12V A23 battery is sold separately.
