Will This Remote Fit?

This remote is made to replace the TR214A. Check the label on your old remote (often inside the battery cover) — if it reads TR214A, this is the one you need.

About the Harbor Breeze TR214A Remote

Check for TR214A on the label inside the battery compartment of your old remote. It marks an earlier version of the Harbor Breeze handset with the 3, 2, 1, 0 layout and a light button. Ours gives you back speed and dimming without hunting down an old original on auction sites.

If TR214A is the number on your old handset, order with confidence. It's made for the fans that shipped with it, the Mazon 44-in and Litex Wendling among them.

  • Button 3 for high, 2 for medium, 1 for low, 0 to stop
  • Dims the Mazon LED down to about 10%
  • Learns the receiver already in your fan
  • Compact, about 2 x 6 x 1 inches

Wall switch or breaker

Pairing needs a fresh power-up. If your fan is on a wall switch, that's the easy way: off, a few seconds' pause, then on. If the fan has constant power and no switch, use the circuit breaker instead. Either way, leave the power on afterward, since the remote can't wake a fan that has no power.

Safety on the ladder

Pairing this remote takes no tools, but reading a fan label means climbing. Switch the fan off and let the blades stop, use a stable step ladder, and keep one hand free for balance. Never reach into a moving fan to read, dust or adjust anything.

Before you order

  • You'll need one 12V A23 battery. It isn't in the box.
  • If your old Mazon remote has a Learn button, it's an older hugger version with a different pairing method, so check before ordering.

Setup & Pairing

Here's the quick way to pair it.

  1. Fit the 12V A23 battery, positive toward the top, and close the back of the TR214A remote.
  2. Tip: turn off nearby fans before pairing, since their receivers would learn this remote too.
  3. Turn the fan's power off at the wall switch or breaker, then turn it back on.
  4. Inside the next 30 seconds, hold down 0 for roughly 5 seconds. The light blinks twice when it has learned the remote.
  5. Run through high, medium and low, press 0, then tap the light to make sure everything answers.

In the box: the TR214A replacement remote and its wall holder. The 12V A23 battery is sold separately.

Frequently Asked Questions

How long does setup take?

About a minute, and most of that is the walk to the wall switch. Power off, power on, hold 0 for about 5 seconds and watch for two blinks.

Does it dim the light?

Yes. Tap the light button for on or off and hold it to dim. The light comes back on at the last brightness you set.

Why does the light come back dimmer than full?

It remembers the last brightness you chose. Hold the light button to adjust it, and that becomes the new starting level.

Can I pair it if my fan has no wall switch?

Yes. Use the circuit breaker to turn the fan's power off and back on, then hold 0 within 30 seconds.

What should I have ready before I contact you?

The number from your old remote or fan label, a photo of the label if you can, and what you've tried so far. Call or email us at (816) 586-8457 or info@fanremotes.com.

When will my order ship?
