About the Minka-Aire WC110 Wall Control

Replacing a WC110 is the quick fix for a fan you can't control from the wall. You get four speeds and a dimmer on two sliders. You'll find WC110 on the old wall control's label, usually on its side or on the metal strap, once the wall plate is removed. Look for a wall control with two sliders in a standard single-gang box; that's this style.

We built this one for fans that shipped with the WC110. It needs a 3-wire hookup: hot, fan and light.

Separate fan and light wires

Each slider controls its own circuit, so the fan and the light need separate wires from the wall box to the ceiling. If one wire feeds both today, extra wiring is needed before this control will work. A 3-wire cable (black, red and white plus ground) often means the separate wires are already there.

Bulbs and the dimmer

The dimmer is rated for incandescent fan lights up to 300 W. LED bulbs may not dim smoothly, and CFL bulbs or fluorescent fixtures shouldn't be used. If you prefer LEDs, keep them at full brightness or test one first.

Before you order

Fan load limit is 1.25 A. Check that your fan draws 1.25 A or less before you swap.
Not for DC-motor fans, Hunter Original series fans, or shaded-pole and non-reversible motors.

Setup & Pairing

If you've replaced a wall switch before, this will feel familiar.

Start by shutting off the breaker, not just the wall switch.
Pull the fan chain to High and switch the light chain on, then leave both alone.
Confirm separate fan and light wires run from the box to the ceiling; a single shared wire needs extra wiring first.
Join the hot, fan and light wires to the matching leads with wire nuts, and connect ground to the ground screw if present.
Fasten the control with its two screws, put your existing wall plate back on, and restore power.

Keep the instructions with your fan's manual for next time.

Does it work with LED bulbs?

The dimmer is rated for incandescent fan light kits up to 300 W. We can't promise smooth dimming with every LED bulb, and it is not for CFL bulbs.

Will it fit a Hunter Original or a DC fan?

No. It is for standard reversible AC fans only.

What should my pull chains be set to?

Set the fan chain to High and turn the light chain on, then leave them. The wall control does the rest.

How many fan speeds does it have?

Four speeds plus Off.

My fan and light run off one wall switch. Will this work?

Not without extra wiring. The fan and the light each need their own wire from the wall box up to the ceiling.

When will my order ship?
