About the Minka-Aire F510L-WH Wall Control

The Minka-Aire F510L-WH is the 26-inch Spacesaver ceiling fan in white with an LED light. A new wall control brings back four speeds plus off and smooth dimming up to 300 watts.

Owners of the F510L-WH can order with confidence once the model sticker matches. The fan and light must each have their own wire to the ceiling.

Finding your fan's model number

Most ceiling fans carry a model sticker on top of the motor housing. You can usually read it from a ladder once the canopy cover is slid down, or with the light kit removed. The same number is in the owner's manual and on the carton. If the fan came from Lowe's or Home Depot, your online order history shows the model and item number too. Take a phone photo of the sticker so you have it next time.

About 2-wire controls

Some fan-only wall controls use just two wires: hot in and fan out. This dual-slide control needs three wires, hot, fan and light, so it doesn't replace a 2-wire, fan-only control.

Before you order

The dimmer is rated for incandescent fan lights. We don't guarantee LED dimming, and it is not for CFL bulbs or fluorescent fixtures.
Do not use it on an outlet, a motor appliance or a transformer-fed light.

Setup & Pairing

Here's the swap, step by step.

Start by shutting off the breaker, not just the wall switch.
Set the fan's pull chain to High and turn the light chain on. Leave them that way.
Make sure there's one wire for the fan and another for the light between the box and the ceiling.
Join the hot, fan and light wires to the matching leads with wire nuts, and connect ground to the ground screw if present.
Mount the control in the wall box with the two screws, reuse your existing wall plate, and turn the breaker back on.
