About the Minka-Aire F510L-CL Wall Control

The Minka-Aire F510L-CL is the 26-inch Spacesaver ceiling fan in coal with an LED light. Swap in this control and you're back to four speeds and a dimmer on two sliders.

It is made for the Minka-Aire F510L-CL. Check the model sticker on the fan: if it reads F510L-CL, this is the wall control you need. Set the pull chains first, then wire it into a standard single-gang box.

Safety before you start

Shut off the circuit at the breaker panel, not just the wall switch, and put a piece of tape over the breaker so nobody flips it back. Check the wires with a non-contact voltage tester before you touch them. If the box has more than one circuit, test every wire. Work with dry hands and a flashlight.

Four speeds plus off

The fan slider has four speeds and off, one more step than many pull chains offer. Slide it to the bottom to turn the fan off, and do the same with the light slider to switch the light off. Everything else is in between.

Before you order

Based on its product line, we expect the F510L-CL to use this wall control. Compare your old wall control with our photos, or send us a picture before you order.
Do not use it on an outlet, a motor appliance or a transformer-fed light.

Setup & Pairing

Work with the breaker off from start to finish.

Turn the circuit off at the breaker panel before anything else.
Set the fan chain on High and the light chain on; they stay there.
Make sure there's one wire for the fan and another for the light between the box and the ceiling.
Wire-nut the line, fan and light leads to the matching house wires, then attach any ground wire to the ground screw.
Screw the control into the box, reuse the old wall plate, and switch the breaker on.

If anything about the wiring looks unfamiliar, stop and call a licensed electrician.
