About the Hampton Bay CHQ9051T Wall Control
If your CHQ9051T has quit, this wall control takes over with High, Medium, Low and Off plus tap-and-hold light dimming. Remove the wall plate and look at the body of the old wall control: the CHQ9051T number is on its label. Count the light buttons on your old control: one light button is the version this page covers.
We built this one for fans that shipped with the CHQ9051T. Set four DIP switches to match the receiver, wire it in, and it's ready.
- Runs on 120 V house power
- 4 DIP switches, 16 codes, no programming
- Talks to common 304 MHz DIP-switch receivers
- Decorative wall plate and wire nuts included
Receivers it works with
It talks to 304 MHz DIP-switch receivers such as the UC7067RC, UC7067FMRX, FAN-28R, FAN18R and FAN30R, found in many Hampton Bay, Harbor Breeze and Emerson fans. If your receiver has no DIP switches, this control won't pair.
No batteries, ever
It wires into the wall switch box and runs on house power, so it's always ready and never goes missing in the couch. There's no battery to replace, now or later.
Before you order
- Single light button. If your fan has separate up-light and down-light buttons on the old control, you need our up/down-light version instead.
- For AC ceiling fans with a light. It will not run DC-motor fans.
Setup & Pairing
Take a photo of the old wiring before you disconnect anything.
- Shut off the breaker that feeds both the fan and the wall box.
- Take out the old control and photograph or label its wiring.
- Locate the four code switches on the canopy receiver and on the new control.
- Set the control's four switches to match the receiver exactly with a pen tip. That's all the pairing there is.
- Still on the factory pattern? Choose a new one and set it on both, so nearby fans can't react to your control.
- Wire the control into the box following the included instructions, then attach it and the wall plate with the supplied screws.
- Turn the breaker back on and try every button.
Keep the instructions with your fan's manual for next time.
In the box: CHQ9051T replacement wall control, a decorative wall plate with its screws, 2 mounting screws and 4 wire nuts.

Frequently Asked Questions
How do I pair it to my fan?
Turn off power at the breaker, then set the 4 DIP switches on the wall control to match the switches on the receiver in your fan canopy. No programming is needed.
My fan has separate up and down lights. Will this work?
This version has one light button, so it controls one light circuit. For fans with independent up and down lights, choose our up/down-light wall control.
Does it dim the light?
Yes. Press and hold the light button to dim. It dims incandescent bulbs and many dimmable LED bulbs.
Is a receiver included?
No, this replaces only the wall control. Your fan needs its existing compatible receiver in the canopy.
What tools will I need?
A screwdriver, a wire stripper, a non-contact voltage tester and a few wire nuts cover it. A flashlight helps in a dark wall box.
When will my order ship?
In-stock orders placed by 4 PM, Monday to Friday, ship the same business day.
What is your return policy?
You can return items within 90 days. Items must be unused and uninstalled, in their original packaging. No restocking fees. Please read our return policy before sending anything back. Questions? Call (816) 586-8457 or email info@fanremotes.com.
Is there a warranty?
Yes. Every product we sell comes with a 1-year warranty against defects. If it fails because of a defect, contact us and we’ll send a replacement.
