Why there are no DIP switches

Older fan remotes used rows of tiny DIP switches that had to match the receiver exactly. This remote uses learning code instead. During the brief window after power returns, the receiver listens for the remote and saves its code. There is nothing to set or match, and there are no tiny switches to lose track of.

Keeping the remote clean

Wipe the handset with a dry or barely damp cloth. Do not spray cleaner directly on it, since liquid can seep around the buttons and onto the circuit board. A cotton swab with a little rubbing alcohol cleans sticky buttons. Let it dry before using it again.

Here is the full pairing sequence.

Load the remote with two AAA batteries and set the cover aside.
Push the slide switch inside the battery area to setting 1.
Shut off the fan circuit at the switch or breaker, pause briefly, and bring the power back.
Within 30 seconds, press and release the Learn button inside the battery compartment.
Watch for the light to flash and the blades to start turning. That means it has paired; if not, repeat the steps.
Put the cover back and hang the remote on its wall holder.

Tip: stand where you can see the fan before restoring power.
