About the Hampton Bay YG630MBK Remote

In a bedroom or office, a remote on the desk or nightstand is the whole point of a fan like the matte black YG630MBK. This Comfort Direct replacement covers high, medium, low, off and light dimming.

Using the wall mount

The included holder screws to the wall with the two screws in the box. Pick a spot near the room's light switch at about chest height, where everyone looks first. Keep it away from heat registers and direct afternoon sun, which are hard on batteries.

Reading the code from the receiver

No old remote? The receiver tucked in the fan canopy has the same switch bank. Turn off the breaker, lower the canopy and open the receiver box with a very small screwdriver. Write down which switches are up and which are down, then copy that pattern onto the new remote.

Setup & Pairing

Pairing is done with switches, not button sequences.

Open the battery compartment on the new remote; the small switch bank sits inside.
Check switch 5: on allows dimming, off is for lights that can't dim.
Line up switches 1 to 4 with the code from your old remote, flipping each one until the two match exactly.
If neither the old remote nor the receiver is available, test each of the 16 patterns in turn.
Add the A23 battery, replace the cover and run through high, medium, low, off and the light.

How do I know which way a switch is set?

The switch bank is marked with an ON side. Note whether each switch points toward ON or away from it, and copy that exactly.

My light flickers after setup. What should I check?

Check switch 5. If the light isn't dimmable, set it to off so the remote only switches the light on and off.
