When only the light misbehaves

If the fan runs on every speed but the light won't come on, the remote is clearly reaching the receiver, so the light kit is the more likely issue. Also make sure the light isn't wired through a regular full-range wall dimmer, since the remote is meant to handle all dimming on these fans.

Setup & Pairing

Insert a fresh 12V A23 into the new remote with the positive end facing the top, and put the battery door back.
Turn the power to the fan off, then on, using the wall switch or the circuit breaker.
Within 30 seconds, press and hold the 0 (fan off) button for about 5 seconds, until the fan light blinks twice.
Try each speed, then tap and hold the light button to check on, off and dimming.
Pair with any other remote-controlled fans turned off at the wall, so they don't pick up this remote as well.

In the box: RS54BNK6LR replacement remote with a wall holder. You'll need one 12V A23 battery, not included.
