About the Hampton Bay 99918 Remote

Matte white Mena 99918 fans brighten porches and sunrooms, and their remotes tend to wander off. This replacement gets the three speeds, off, light on/off and press-and-hold dimming back under your thumb.

It is made for the Mena 99918. Check the label on your old remote or on the fan's motor housing, then copy the four-switch code from the old remote or the receiver and you're set.

Dead remote or failed receiver?

If nothing happens when you press a button, start with the battery and the code. A fresh A23 and a re-checked switch pattern solve most problems. If the fan still won't respond, the receiver in the canopy may have failed, and a new remote alone won't fix that.

How the DIP code works

Inside the battery compartment sit four tiny on/off switches. Their up/down pattern is a code, and the receiver in the fan only listens to a remote sending the code it is set to. Four switches give 16 possible patterns. Match the pattern and the fan answers; miss by one switch and it ignores you.

Setup & Pairing

All you need is the new remote, an A23 battery and your old code.

Turn the new remote over and take off the battery door to reach the code switches.
Set switches 1 to 4 to the same up/down pattern as your old remote.
Code unknown? Set one pattern, press a button, and move on to the next until the fan reacts. There are 16 in all.
Fit a 12V A23 battery, snap the cover back on and test the fan and the light.
Leave switch 5 on for a dimmable light, or turn it off for one that can't dim.

In the box: Replacement remote for the Mena 99918 fan, a wall holder with 2 screws, and the programming manual. The A23 battery is sold separately.
