About the Fanimation TW30 Wall Control

If your TW30 has quit, this wall control takes over with six DC speeds, reverse and a dimmable light. Remove the wall plate and look at the body of the old wall control: the TW30 number is on its label. Your old control should show one light button, not separate up and down light buttons.

We built this one for fans that shipped with the TW30. After wiring, a press of SET starts a short learning run, and then it's ready.

Non-dimmable bulbs

If your bulbs aren't dimmable, set the light switch inside the control to on/off only, marked D. The light then switches without trying to dim, which avoids flicker and buzz.

Look-alike controls

Fanimation made several wall controls that look similar, such as the TW306, TW406 and TW407. They aren't the same. Match the number on your old control before you order.

Before you order

Single light control only. If your old control has separate up light and down light buttons, choose our up/down-light version instead.
Not the same as Fanimation TW306, TW406 or TW407 controls. Match the number on your old control.

Setup & Pairing

Take a photo of the old wiring first.

Shut off the fan's circuit at the breaker.
Take off the faceplate and put in the 12V A23 battery.
Match the control's code switches to the fan's receiver, if the receiver has switches.
Connect the control in the wall box, mount it and turn the breaker back on.
Inside 60 seconds of power coming back, hold SET for 1 to 5 seconds.
The fan will spin both ways for about 5 minutes, then stop; that means it's paired.
Repeat this setup any time you change the blades.

Does it need a neutral wire?

Yes. The control is powered from line and neutral in the wall box.

Why does my fan spin both ways for a few minutes after setup?

That is normal. The fan is learning the blades. It stops after about 5 minutes and is then ready to use.

How many speeds does it have?

Six speeds plus off, and reverse.

What is the battery for?

One 12V A23 battery sits under the faceplate and powers the control's transmitter.

Do I need an electrician?

If you've replaced a wall switch before, you can likely do this yourself with the breaker off. If the wiring is unclear or looks damaged, hire a licensed electrician.
