About the Home Decorators Collection YG656-NI Remote

Lost the remote for the Home Decorators Collection YG656-NI? This replacement gives you full control of the Hansfield again: nine fan speeds, forward and reverse, light on, off and dim, plus a 2, 4 or 8-hour timer.

Before ordering, confirm the label on your fan says YG656-NI. It is usually on the motor housing near the downrod. Setup is a power-cycle and one press of the Learn button.

After a power outage

If the fan does not answer the remote after an outage or a breaker trip, give it a minute, then try again. If it still does not respond, run the pairing steps once more. It takes about a minute and restores the link between the handset and the receiver.

Placing the wall holder

The included holder makes the most sense near the room's light switch, about the same height, so everyone knows where to look. Keep it away from heat sources and direct sun. On drywall, use plastic anchors under the two screws so the holder stays tight when the remote is pulled out and dropped back in.

Setup & Pairing

Here is the full pairing sequence.

Install two AAA cells in the remote; you will need the open compartment for the next steps.
Push the slide switch inside the battery area to setting 1.
Cut power to the fan with the wall switch or breaker, then restore it.
Right away, while the 30-second window is open, press Learn and let go.
Watch for the light to flash and the blades to start turning. That means it has paired; if not, repeat the steps.
Refit the battery cover and give each button a quick test.

Tip: fresh batteries make the first try far more likely to work.
