About the Home Decorators Collection YG493OD-WH Remote

Running a Home Decorators Collection YG493OD-WH from the wall switch alone gets old fast. This replacement remote restores 9-speed control, reverse, light dimming and the timer on your Kensgrove 72 in. fan.

If your fan has the White finish, you can match it by the model label on top of the motor housing or on the box: it should read YG493OD-WH. There is no wiring involved: the remote learns your fan's existing receiver. This handset pairs with the UC786N-12 receiver found in the Kensgrove 72 in.. On a patio install, mount the holder where the remote stays dry.

Mounting on tile or brick

On tile, drill slowly with a masonry or tile bit and use the right anchors so the surface does not crack. On brick, drill into the mortar line rather than the brick face. A small piece of painter's tape on the drill spot keeps the bit from wandering.

Dead remote or failed receiver?

Put in fresh batteries and run the pairing steps. If the fan light flashes and the blades start, the receiver is fine and your old handset was the problem. If nothing happens after two careful tries, with the wall switch on, the receiver in the canopy may have failed. A new remote cannot fix a dead receiver.

Setup & Pairing

Pairing uses the Learn button and a quick power-cycle.

Install two AAA cells in the remote; you will need the open compartment for the next steps.
Set the compartment's slide switch to position 1.
Switch the fan's power off, either at the wall or at the breaker panel, and turn it back on.
Quickly, inside the 30-second window, tap the Learn button next to the batteries.
A flashing light and moving blades confirm the pairing. If you see neither, run the steps again.

Tip: if the wall switch only controls a light, use the breaker instead. Tip: mount the wall holder after you confirm the remote works.
