Plus and minus buttons

Speed control on this handset uses plus and minus buttons rather than one key per speed. Each tap moves the fan one step, and holding the button steps through the speeds. It feels different from a three-button remote at first, but it quickly becomes second nature.

Is your fan a 9-speed DC model?

Check the owner's manual or the old remote itself. A 9-speed DC remote has plus and minus speed buttons, a reverse button, timer buttons and breeze control, not three fixed speed keys. The manual normally says DC motor in the specifications. If you are unsure, send us a photo of the old handset.

Setup & Pairing

Put two fresh AAA batteries in the remote and leave the battery door off for now.
Make sure the little slide switch in the battery bay reads 1.
Shut off the fan circuit at the switch or breaker, pause briefly, and bring the power back.
Press the Learn button once, within 30 seconds of power coming back.
When the light flashes and the blades begin to spin, pairing is complete. No response? Start over from the power-cycle step.
Refit the battery cover and give each button a quick test.

Tip: check the slide switch first if pairing does not take.
