About the Home Decorators Collection YG493A-EB Remote

Lost the remote for the Home Decorators Collection YG493A-EB? This replacement gives you full control of the Kensgrove 54 in. again: nine fan speeds, forward and reverse, light on, off and dim, plus a 2, 4 or 8-hour timer.

The YG493A-EB is the Espresso Bronze finish version of this fan. Read the model sticker on the motor housing to be sure it matches. The remote pairs to the receiver already in your fan, so nothing needs to be rewired. The Kensgrove 54 in. uses a UC789N-07 receiver in the canopy, which this remote is made to pair with.

Handset or wall control?

This is a handheld remote, but the included holder lets it act like a wall control too. Leave it on the holder by the door for everyday use, or take it to the couch or bed. Either way, the fan's wall switch should stay on.

Labeling remotes at home

In a house with several remote-controlled fans, a small label on the back of each handset saves daily confusion. Write the room name in marker or use a label maker. Put the label on the case, not over the battery door, so it stays put when you change cells.

Setup & Pairing

Keep the fan in sight so you can see it confirm the pairing.

Load the remote with two AAA batteries and set the cover aside.
Make sure the little slide switch in the battery bay reads 1.
Power-cycle the fan: off at the wall switch or breaker, then on again.
Right away, while the 30-second window is open, press Learn and let go.
The fan answers by flashing its light and starting the blades. If it stays still, try the sequence once more.
Refit the battery cover and give each button a quick test.

Tip: if the wall switch only controls a light, use the breaker instead. Tip: mount the wall holder after you confirm the remote works.
