Will This Wall Control Fit?

This wall control is made to replace the 7787300. Check the label on your old wall control — if it reads 7787300, this is the one you need.

About the Westinghouse 7787300 Wall Control

Swap a worn 7787300 for this hard-wired control and get High, Medium-High, Medium and Low plus a 300 W light dimmer. Remove the wall plate and look at the body of the old wall control: the 7787300 number is on its label. If your old control has two sliders and sits just over half an inch off the wall, it matches this style.

Check the label on your old control: if it reads 7787300, this is the replacement. It goes in place of a standard wall switch with the breaker off.

  • Controls the fan through your house wiring
  • Slim profile, 4.5 x 2.75 x 0.63 in
  • Gives a 3-speed fan four speeds

Three-conductor wiring

This control needs the hot wire coming in, plus one wire to the fan and another to the light. If your wall box has only one switched wire going up to the ceiling, the light and fan can't be controlled separately without new wiring.

Slim profile

At 4.5 by 2.75 inches and only 0.63 inches deep off the wall, it sits neatly in a standard single-gang box and looks tidy next to regular switches.

Before you order

  • Fan load limit is 1.25 A. Check that your fan motor draws 1.25 A or less.
  • Not for fans run by a remote receiver. A hard-wired slide control should not feed a fan that has a remote receiver installed.

Setup & Pairing

If you've replaced a wall switch before, this will feel familiar.

  1. Shut off the breaker first, not just the wall switch.
  2. Pull the fan chain to its highest speed and turn the light chain on.
  3. Take out the old switch and connect the hot, fan and light wires to the control; you need three conductors to the ceiling.
  4. Fasten the control in the box, add the wall plate and restore power.

Keep the instructions with your fan's manual for next time.

In the box: 7787300 replacement dual-slide fan and light wall control, plus mounting hardware and wiring instructions.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I use LED bulbs?

The dimmer is rated for incandescent fan lights up to 300 W. We can't promise smooth dimming with every LED bulb, and CFL bulbs should not be used.

Do I need separate wires for the fan and the light?

Yes. It needs three-conductor wiring: the hot wire in, plus one wire to the fan and one to the light.

Do I need an electrician?

If you've replaced a wall switch before, you can likely do this yourself with the breaker off. If the wiring is unclear or looks damaged, hire a licensed electrician.

What tools will I need?

A screwdriver, a wire stripper, a non-contact voltage tester and a few wire nuts cover it. A flashlight helps in a dark wall box.

Is it normal for the control to feel warm?

Slight warmth during use is normal for a fan speed control. If it ever gets hot, smells, or buzzes loudly, turn it off at the breaker and contact us.

When will my order ship?

In-stock orders placed by 4 PM, Monday to Friday, ship the same business day.

What is your return policy?

You can return items within 90 days. Items must be unused and uninstalled, in their original packaging. No restocking fees. Please read our return policy before sending anything back. Questions? Call (816) 586-8457 or email info@fanremotes.com.

Is there a warranty?

Yes. Every product we sell comes with a 1-year warranty against defects. If it fails because of a defect, contact us and we’ll send a replacement.
