About the Honeywell 51628 Remote

The Honeywell 51628 is a 62-inch Xerxes fan finished in bright white. If its remote has quit or gone missing, this replacement restores three speeds, off and light dimming, and the wall holder keeps it where everyone can reach it.

It's made for the 51628 and learns the receiver already in the fan. Look at the model sticker on the motor housing: if it reads 51628, you've found the right remote. Setup is a power cycle and a 5-second press of Learn. The High and Low method from the owner's manual works too.

  • Light on/off and dimming, with a D/CFL switch for bulbs that can't dim
  • Works on 315 MHz radio from anywhere in the room
  • Covered for a full year by our warranty

What the D/CFL switch does

Inside the battery door is a small slide marked D and CFL. D, the factory setting, lets the light button dim. CFL makes it on/off only, which suits bulbs that can't dim. Move it with a fingernail or the tip of a small screwdriver.

Using the off button

Fan off has its own button, separate from the light. You can stop the blades and leave the light on for reading, or switch the light off and keep the breeze going overnight. It's a small thing that makes the remote easy for everyone in the house to use.

Before you order

  • No fan direction button: reverse, if your fan has it, stays on the motor housing.

Setup & Pairing

  1. If nearby fans use the same kind of remote, switch their power off so they don't learn it too.
  2. Fit a 12V A23 battery into the 51628 remote, lining up the + and - ends.
  3. Turn the fan's power off at the wall switch or breaker, then back on.
  4. Inside 30 seconds of power returning, keep the Learn button pressed for about 5 seconds.
  5. You'll know it worked when the fan comes on low and the light stays off. No response? Power cycle and try again.
  6. Prefer the manual's method? Hold High and Low together for 5 seconds inside the 30-second window.

Tip: have a helper at the wall switch so you can press Learn the moment power comes back.

In the box: 51628 replacement remote, wall mount holder with screws, and instructions. Battery not included.

Frequently Asked Questions

Will this replacement remote for the Honeywell 51628 fit my ceiling fan?

It fits the 1 model listed under Compatible Models on this page. If your model isn’t listed, call us at (816) 586-8457 and we’ll check for you.

Is this the right remote for the Harbor Breeze 51628?

Yes. It's made for the 51628 and pairs with the receiver already in the fan. The model sticker on the motor housing confirms the number.

Can I keep the 51628 remote on the wall?

Yes. A wall holder and screws are included, so the remote can live by the door.

Why does my fan start on low after pairing?

That's the sign pairing worked. From there, every button is ready to use.

What is the D/CFL switch for?

It sets the light button. D dims dimmable bulbs; CFL makes it on/off only.

Is a battery in the box?

No. You'll need one 12V A23 battery, and the + and - ends should match the marks in the compartment.

What battery does it use?

One 12V A23 battery. It isn't included, so grab one at a hardware or grocery store before the remote arrives.

When will my order ship?

In-stock orders placed by 4 PM, Monday to Friday, ship the same business day.

What is your return policy?

You can return items within 90 days. Items must be unused and uninstalled, in their original packaging. No restocking fees. Please read our return policy before sending anything back. Questions? Call (816) 586-8457 or email info@fanremotes.com.

Is there a warranty?

Yes. Every product we sell comes with a 1-year warranty against defects. If it fails because of a defect, contact us and we’ll send a replacement.
