About the Harbor Breeze 43398 Remote

Climbing a ladder to fiddle with a fan is no fun. This replacement remote for the Harbor Breeze Flanagan III 43398 lets you change speed, dim the light or start breeze mode from the couch.

Before ordering, check that the motor label or box reads 43398. Once the remote arrives, it pairs with a LEARN button press within 30 seconds of turning the power back on.

Making the battery last

If a guest room sits empty for months, take the battery out so it can't leak. When the remote only works from right under the fan, the battery is usually getting weak. Check the contacts for white crust now and then and wipe them clean with a dry cotton swab.

What Home Shield does

Home Shield cycles the fan light on and off while you're away, so the house looks lived in. Turn it on before you leave for a trip or an evening out, and turn it off when you're back. It's one of the extras this remote brings back.

Setup & Pairing

Slide off the battery cover and fit a fresh 12V A23 battery.
Switch off the Harbor Breeze 43398 for around 10 seconds using the wall switch or breaker, then restore power.
Before 30 seconds pass, press LEARN inside the battery compartment with a pen tip.
The fan or light responds to confirm pairing. If not, repeat the power cycle and press LEARN again within 30 seconds.
Try all three speeds, the light and dimming, then hang the wall holder.

In the box: Replacement remote for the Harbor Breeze 43398, wall mount holder, mounting screws. Battery not included.
