About the Home Decorators Collection YG493A-BN Remote

If the remote for your YG493A-BN went missing in a move or simply quit, here is the fix. Our replacement runs the Home Decorators Collection Kensgrove 54 in. with nine speeds, reverse, a dimmable light and timer.

The YG493A-BN is the Brushed Nickel finish version of this fan. Read the model sticker on the motor housing to be sure it matches. Once it matches, setup takes about a minute. Inside the canopy, the Kensgrove 54 in. has a UC789N-07 receiver; this handset learns its code.

Mounting on tile or brick

On tile, drill slowly with a masonry or tile bit and use the right anchors so the surface does not crack. On brick, drill into the mortar line rather than the brick face. A small piece of painter's tape on the drill spot keeps the bit from wandering.

The RH787T is a different 6-speed remote, and this one does not replace it.

Setup & Pairing

Install two AAA cells in the remote; you will need the open compartment for the next steps.
Check the slide switch next to the batteries and set it to 1.
Turn the fan off at the wall switch or breaker, wait a few seconds, then switch it back on.
Within 30 seconds, press and release the Learn button inside the battery compartment.
The fan answers by flashing its light and starting the blades. If it stays still, try the sequence once more.

Tip: mount the wall holder after you confirm the remote works.

In the box: one YG493A-BN replacement remote plus a wall mount holder and screws (AAA batteries sold separately).
