About the Home Decorators Collection YG493OD-CMBK Remote

The YG493OD-CMBK is a Kensgrove 72 in. DC ceiling fan from Home Decorators Collection, and it depends on its handheld remote for almost everything. This replacement handles speed, reverse, the light and dimmer, the timer and breeze modes in one unit.

The YG493OD-CMBK is the Matte Black finish version of this fan. Read the model sticker on the motor housing to be sure it matches. The remote pairs to the receiver already in your fan, so nothing needs to be rewired. This handset pairs with the UC786N-12 receiver found in the Kensgrove 72 in.. The YG493OD-CMBK can hang on a covered porch, but store the remote out of the rain.

Pairs in about a minute with the Learn button
Wall mount in the box, backed by a 1-year warranty
9 fan speeds plus off, stepped with plus and minus buttons
Dim the fan light to any comfortable level

When the receiver is the problem

If a fresh, correctly paired remote still cannot control the fan, or the fan acts on its own, the receiver may be failing. The receiver sits in the canopy at the ceiling. Replacing it is a wiring job, so turn off the breaker first or call an electrician if you are not comfortable.

Testing after setup

Once paired, run a quick test. Step through a few speeds, try reverse while the fan is on a low speed, dim the light up and down, and set the shortest timer. If each function responds, you are done. Snap the battery door on and put the handset on its holder.

Before you order

For 9-speed DC fans only. It will not run AC fans or 6-speed DC fans.
It does not replace the RH787T, which is a different 6-speed remote.

Setup & Pairing

Pairing uses the Learn button and a quick power-cycle.

Open the back of the remote and fit two new AAA batteries, matching the + marks.
Set the compartment's slide switch to position 1.
Power-cycle the fan: off at the wall switch or breaker, then on again.
Quickly, inside the 30-second window, tap the Learn button next to the batteries.
A flashing light and moving blades confirm the pairing. If you see neither, run the steps again.

Tip: if the wall switch only controls a light, use the breaker instead.

In the box: YG493OD-CMBK replacement remote and a wall holder with screws. Two AAA batteries needed, not included.

Where is the model number on the YG493OD-CMBK?
