About the Comfort Direct RT36A Remote

If your RT36A has stopped working, this remote takes over with Low, Medium, High and Fan Off plus breeze and light control. Slide the battery cover off your old remote and you'll typically find RT36A on the label there or on the back. The original runs on a 12V A23 battery and has keys for three speeds, Fan Off, the light, light delay, breeze and Home/Away.

Match the number first: this page is for the RT36A. Cycle the power and hold the learn button, or Fan Off on some versions, until the fan responds.

Home/Away mode

Home/Away turns the light on and off while you're out so the house looks occupied. Set it before you leave for the evening or a trip, and turn it off when you're back.

315 MHz only

This remote runs on 315 MHz. It's not for fans with 433 MHz remotes or DIP-switch remotes, which use different systems even when they look alike.

Setup & Pairing

Pairing takes about a minute.

Install one 12V A23 battery.
Turn the fan's power off for about 10 seconds, then back on.
Within 30 seconds, press and hold the pairing button named in your fan's manual (the learn button, or the Fan Off button on some versions) until the fan or light responds.
Test all fan speeds and the light.

Mount the holder so the remote stays handy.
