Will This Remote Fit?

About the Hampton Bay CHQ8BT7053T Remote

Lost or broken CHQ8BT7053T with 4 DIP switches? This replacement gets your fan back under control with three speeds, reverse and a dimmable light, with 4-switch DIP setup. Flip the old remote over: CHQ8BT7053T sits after the FCC mark on the back label, sometimes inside the battery door instead. This page is the 4-DIP-switch version, so your old remote should have 4 small switches under its battery cover.

Made for fans whose CHQ8BT7053T remote has 4 DIP switches. Match its 4 DIP switches to your receiver, snap in a 9V battery and you're set.

  • Dimmable light control
  • 4-switch DIP setup
  • Wall bracket and screws in the box
  • Three speeds and off

How DIP switches work

The 4 tiny switches inside this remote set a code. Each one sits up or down, which gives 16 possible patterns. The receiver in the fan has a matching set, and it only obeys a transmitter set to the same pattern. A pen tip or small screwdriver moves them. Take a photo of the pattern before you change anything.

Full control

It handles three speeds plus off, flips blade direction with its reverse button, and switches and dims the light. The reverse button only works on fans made for remote reverse.

Before you order

  • Not universal: your fan must have a receiver that works with this remote.
  • Reverse works only if the fan is built for remote reverse.

Setup & Pairing

Here's how to match the new remote to the receiver in your fan.

  1. Switch the breaker for the fan off before you start.
  2. Write down the 4 switch positions from your old remote, or from the fan's receiver.
  3. Match this remote's 4 switches to that pattern.
  4. Snap in a 9V battery.
  5. Turn the power back on and try every button.

If nothing happens, recheck that every switch matches; one switch off is enough to stop it.

In the box: 1 CHQ8BT7053T remote (4 DIP switches), plus a wall mount and screws.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I know if I need the 4 or 5 DIP version?

Count the switches under your old remote's battery cover. If there are 4, this is your remote; if there are 5, choose the other version.

What battery does it use?

It takes a single 9V battery, sold separately.

Why does the light flicker when I dim it?

Usually the bulbs are not dimmable, or different bulb types are mixed in one fixture. Use bulbs marked dimmable for smooth results.

Which direction should the fan turn in winter?

Clockwise on a low speed, seen from below. In summer, run it counterclockwise for a cooling downdraft.

Will a new remote fix a fan that won't run at all?

Only if the old remote was the problem. If the fan won't run, hums, or sticks on one speed, the receiver may have failed, and a new remote can't fix that. Call us and we'll help you sort it out.

When will my order ship?

In-stock orders placed by 4 PM, Monday to Friday, ship the same business day.

What is your return policy?

You can return items within 90 days. Items must be unused and uninstalled, in their original packaging. No restocking fees. Please read our return policy before sending anything back. Questions? Call (816) 586-8457 or email info@fanremotes.com.

Is there a warranty?

Yes. Every product we sell comes with a 1-year warranty against defects. If it fails because of a defect, contact us and we’ll send a replacement.
