About the Hampton Bay Chelton Remote

Chelton fans from Hampton Bay pack a white color-changing LED light into a compact 46 in. design. This replacement remote gets the speeds, dimming and tone control working again after the original goes missing.

Made for Chelton fans. Check the label on your old remote before you order, since Hampton Bay uses several remotes across its fan lines. Pairing is four DIP switches matched to the receiver.

Check the button layout

Hold your old remote next to the photos on this page. This one has high, medium, low and off, a light button and a color temperature button. If yours has extra keys, like a separate up-light or a timer, it is a different remote and we can help you find the right one.

Summer and winter direction

If your fan has a direction switch on the motor housing, use it with the seasons. In summer, run the blades counterclockwise to push air down for a cooling breeze. In winter, go clockwise on low so warm air near the ceiling drifts down the walls. Stop the fan before flipping the switch.

Setup & Pairing

Turn the new remote over and take off the battery door to reach the code switches.
Set switches 1 to 4 to the same up/down pattern as your old remote.
Code unknown? Set one pattern, press a button, and move on to the next until the fan reacts. There are 16 in all.
Fit a 12V A23 battery, snap the cover back on and test the fan and the light.
Leave switch 5 on for a dimmable light, or turn it off for one that can't dim.

In the box: Chelton replacement remote, a wall holder with 2 screws, and the programming manual. The A23 battery is sold separately.

Is a receiver included?

No. This is the handheld remote only, and it works with the 304 MHz DIP-switch receiver already in your fan.

Yes. Press and hold the light button and let go when the brightness looks right. A quick tap just turns the light on or off.
