Check your receiver first

This remote works with DC fans that use the RH786R receiver. A look at the receiver label in the canopy, or at your old remote, settles it. Fans with 9-speed receivers or DIP-switch receivers need a different remote.

Up and down lights

On Monte Carlo fans with both an up light and a down light, this remote runs the fan speeds and the down light, but not the up light. If you rely on the up light, keep that in mind before ordering.

Setup & Pairing

Cycle the power: off at the wall switch or breaker, then on again.
You have 60 seconds after power returns to press the Set button.
Wait while the fan spins one way and then the other for about 5 minutes; once it stops, you are paired.
Choose the light mode with the switch inside the battery compartment: dim for incandescent, on/off for LED or CFL.
Put up the wall bracket so the remote always has a home.

Tip: move the light switch to on/off if LED bulbs flicker.
