About the Hampton Bay A25-TX028C-S Remote

A25-TX028C-S is the full string printed on many of these remotes, prefix and all. If that is what your worn sticker says, this replacement brings back fan speeds, the off button, light dimming and tone control on color-changing LED lights.

Pay attention to the very last letter on the label. It should be -S. Versions that end in -L, -R or -LR look nearly identical but carry different buttons. Setup is just a matter of copying four small switches.

Mounting in a large room

In an open room, mount the holder on the wall closest to where people sit, not by the door. The remote works from anywhere in the room, but a holder next to the couch means it actually gets put back. Use wall anchors when screwing into drywall without a stud.

Storing spare batteries

A23 batteries keep well in a cool, dry drawer. Leave them in the package so the ends can't touch keys or coins. If a vacation home sits empty for months, take the battery out of the remote so a leak can't damage the contacts.

Before you order

Remotes ending in -L, -R, -LR or another letter look alike but have different buttons and switches. Your old label should end in -S.
Receiver not included, so it won't add remote control to a fan that doesn't already have one.

Setup & Pairing

Setup takes a few minutes and needs no programming.

Open the battery compartment on the new A25-TX028C-S remote; the small switch bank sits inside.
Check switch 5: on allows dimming, off is for lights that can't dim.
Line up switches 1 to 4 with the code from your old remote, flipping each one until the two match exactly.
If neither the old remote nor the receiver is available, test each of the 16 patterns in turn.
Add the A23 battery, replace the cover and run through high, medium, low, off and the light.

In the box: A25-TX028C-S replacement remote, wall mount holder, 2 mounting screws and a programming manual. Battery not included.
