About the Harbor Breeze 42861 Remote

The 42861 is a Reverdy ceiling fan made to be run by remote. If yours has quit or disappeared, this Comfort Direct replacement restores the full set: three speeds, dimming, light color, breeze mode, the timer and Home Shield.

Fans cool people, not rooms

A ceiling fan makes you feel cooler by moving air across your skin, but it doesn't lower the room's temperature. Turn the fan off when you leave the room and you'll save energy. The shut-off timer helps with that when you nod off.

Hanging the wall holder

Mount the holder near the room's main light switch, at about switch height, so the remote always has a home. The mounting screws are in the box; into drywall without a stud behind it, add a pair of plastic anchors so the holder stays firm.

Setup & Pairing

Put a new A23 battery in the remote, matching the + mark.
Turn off power to the Harbor Breeze 42861 at the wall switch or breaker for about 10 seconds, then turn it back on.
Within 30 seconds of restoring power, press the LEARN button inside the battery compartment. A small screwdriver or pen tip helps.
The fan or light responds to confirm pairing. If not, repeat the power cycle and press LEARN again within 30 seconds.
Test each fan speed and the light buttons, then mount the holder on the wall.
