About the Harbor Breeze 40190A Remote

Harbor Breeze model 40190A uses a six-speed DC remote with reverse and dimming. This replacement brings that control back, along with Natural Breeze, a 2, 4 or 8-hour timer, Walk Away Light Delay and Home Shield.

We made this remote for the 40190A, and it pairs with the receiver without tools. The whole job is a trip to the wall switch, one press of Learn, and a quick test of each button.

Walk Away Light Delay

Walk Away Light Delay turns the fan and light off one minute after you press it. That gives you time to cross a dark room, get to the hallway or settle into bed before everything shuts off. No more reaching for the remote in the dark.

Dead remote or failed receiver?

When power comes back on, the receiver plays two tones. If you hear them, the receiver is getting power and the remote or battery is the likely problem. If you hear nothing at all, check the breaker and the wall switch first, then the receiver, before buying a new remote.

An old remote with a slide season switch means a different layout, so check with us first.

Setup & Pairing

Open the battery cover of the 40190A remote and insert an A23 12-volt battery the right way round.
Cycle the power: off at the switch or breaker, then on again. Two tones mean the receiver is listening.
Before 30 seconds pass, press Learn on the back of the remote.
Success looks like three blinks of the light, then the light staying on and the fan running on high.
Didn't take? Start over at the power step and press Learn sooner after the tones.

Tip: drop the remote in its wall cradle right after pairing so it never wanders off.

In the box: the 40190A replacement remote, its wall-mount cradle and screws, and a set of instructions (battery not included).
