About the Hampton Bay CHQ7229T Remote

A dropped, chewed or simply worn-out CHQ7229T doesn't mean a new fan. This remote restores fan and light control with a timer, using your existing receiver. You'll usually find CHQ7229T printed after the letters FCC on a sticker on the back, or molded into the plastic beside the battery. Look on the back or inside the battery cover of your old remote for the number on this page.

We built this one for fans that shipped with the CHQ7229T. It has to be set up with the receiver in your fan before the fan will respond.

Setting it up with your receiver

This remote won't control the fan straight out of the box. It has to be set up with the receiver in your fan first. If you have your old remote's instructions or your fan's manual, they cover the steps, and our team can walk you through it.

Not the universal kit

Hampton Bay also sold Premier universal kits, such as models 98131 and 99432, that include their own receiver. This isn't one of those. It's a handheld replacement that works with the receiver already in your fan.

Before you order

It is not the Hampton Bay Premier universal remote kit (model 98131 or 99432), which comes with its own receiver.
It must be set up with your fan's receiver before the fan will respond. It does not work straight out of the box.

Is this the Hampton Bay Premier universal kit?

No. The Premier universal kit comes with its own receiver. This is a handheld replacement only.

What should I do with my old remote?

Keep it until the new one is working, since its label and settings are handy to compare. Then take out the battery and recycle it.

What if my old remote shows a different number?
