About the Harbor Breeze 42863 Remote

Why a matched remote?

DIP switches or LEARN button?

Slide open your old remote's battery cover. A row of tiny on/off switches means it's a DIP-switch remote, which is a different design. This remote has a single LEARN button instead and the fan's receiver learns its code, so check before you order.

Setup & Pairing

No DIP switches here, just a quick power cycle.

Install one 12V A23 battery in the remote.
Switch off the Harbor Breeze 42863 for around 10 seconds using the wall switch or breaker, then restore power.
Right away, within the 30-second window, press the LEARN button in the battery compartment.
When the fan or light reacts, pairing is done. If nothing happens, run the power cycle again and retry LEARN within 30 seconds.
Try all three speeds, the light and dimming, then hang the wall holder.
