Model CAF56LW5LRC is the 56-in Bayou Creek fan from Harbor Breeze with a white finish. It was sold at Lowe's as item 889804. The motor in a fan like this usually outlasts the receiver, so a dead remote rarely means a dead fan. This receiver wires in at the canopy and puts speed and light control back where they belong.

DIP-switch remotes are a different system

Some older fan remotes have a row of tiny switches inside the battery cover that must match the receiver. This receiver does not use them. It learns a compatible remote instead, so a DIP-switch remote will not pair with it.

Avoid a wall dimmer on the fan circuit

The receiver does the dimming for you. A wall dimmer or speed control on the same circuit can starve the receiver of steady power and cause odd behavior. If one is installed, a qualified electrician can swap it for a standard on/off switch.

Setup & Pairing

Plan on about an hour, most of it spent at the canopy.

Start with the breaker: turn it off and check that the fan is dead.
Open the canopy and remove the old receiver, writing down which lead joined which wire.
Hook up the replacement receiver with wire nuts exactly as the old one was wired, then tuck it into the canopy.
Switch off other ceiling fans in the area so they stay out of the pairing.
Restore power, then within about 30 seconds hold the 0 (fan off) button on the remote until the light blinks twice.
Test each fan speed and the light.

Tip: leave the wall switch on, since the receiver needs power to work.
