About the Hampton Bay 26623 Remote

Model 26623 is Hampton Bay's 52-inch Windward IV ceiling fan. A new remote is all it takes to bring back a Fan Timer key, Fan Auto thermostat and down-light dimming. Make sure your old remote had a Fan Timer key, since this version has no reverse key.

Finding your fan's model number

Most ceiling fans carry a model sticker on top of the motor housing. You can usually read it from a ladder once the canopy cover is slid down, or with the light kit removed. The same number is in the owner's manual and on the carton. If the fan came from Lowe's or Home Depot, your online order history shows the model and item number too. Take a phone photo of the sticker so you have it next time.

The Fan Timer key

The Fan Timer key sets the fan to switch off on its own, so you can fall asleep with the fan running and wake up to a quiet room. This is the timer version, so it has no For/Rev key. If your old remote had one, choose our reverse version instead.

Before you order

Down-light dimming only. If your fan has both an up-light and a down-light, this remote can't control them separately.

Setup & Pairing

Setup is a matter of matching a few tiny switches; no programming is involved.

Turn off power to the fan at the breaker.
Remove the new remote's battery cover; the four DIP switches sit inside.
Write down the up/down positions from the old remote or the canopy receiver.
Set the new remote's 4 switches to the exact same pattern, then put in 4 AAA batteries and close the cover.
Restore power at the breaker and try each speed and the light.

Take a photo of the final switch pattern and keep it with your fan's manual.
