About the Harbor Breeze 0464470 Remote

Lowe's item 0464470 is a Harbor Breeze fan with both an up-light and a down-light, run by an FD40-H03R receiver. This replacement switches and dims each light on its own or together, and covers six speeds, reverse and the timer.

Made for the fan Lowe's sold as 0464470. Setup takes about a minute: cycle the power, press Learn on the back of the remote, and watch for the light to blink 3 times.

Signs the battery is low

A tired battery shows up gradually. You may need to stand closer to the fan, press a button twice, or see the dimmer respond in jumps. Replace the A23 before you pair again, since a weak battery can make a good pairing look like it failed.

Label your breaker

Pairing is easier when you know which breaker or switch feeds the fan. Take a minute to mark it on the panel. Then cycling power for pairing is quick, and you won't reset clocks all over the house.

Before you order

Use a standard on/off wall switch, not a rheostat or full-range dimmer, or you risk damaging the fan or remote.

Setup & Pairing

Open the battery cover of the remote and insert an A23 12-volt battery the right way round.
Cycle the power: off at the switch or breaker, then on again. Two tones mean the receiver is listening.
Right away, and within 30 seconds, press Learn on the back.
The light blinks 3 times and stays on, and the fan starts on high. That means it's paired.
Didn't take? Start over at the power step and press Learn sooner after the tones.

Tip: try the dimmer at a low level to confirm your bulbs dim smoothly.

In the box: the replacement remote, its wall-mount cradle and screws, and a set of instructions (battery not included).
