About the Harbor Breeze Wakefield Remote

Harbor Breeze Wakefield fans have both an up-light and a down-light, run by the FD40-H03R receiver. This replacement controls each light on its own or both together, and handles six speeds, Natural Breeze, reverse and the sleep timer.

Made for Harbor Breeze Wakefield fans. You keep the FD40-H03R receiver you have and simply teach it the new remote: one power cycle and one press of Learn.

  • Tap the light button for on/off, hold it to dim
  • Walk Away mode: fan and light switch off one minute after you head out
  • Learn-button pairing with the receiver already in your fan
  • 1-year warranty from our team

Battery safety at home

A23 batteries are small enough for a child to swallow. Keep spares in a closed drawer and make sure the remote's battery cover is fully shut. Recycle old cells at a hardware store drop-off rather than tossing them in the trash.

One remote per fan

Give each fan its own remote. Sharing one between rooms means you'll often run the wrong fan, or both at once. If you own matching fans, a small label on the back of each remote, like Office or Bedroom, saves guessing later.

Before you order

  • Up-light buttons only work on fans that have an up-light.
  • No receiver is included. Your fan's receiver must still be working.

Setup & Pairing

  1. Fit one 12V A23 battery into the Wakefield remote, lining up the + and - ends.
  2. Turn the fan's power off at the wall switch or breaker, then back on. The receiver plays two tones.
  3. Inside the 30-second window, press the Learn button on the remote's back.
  4. Watch for the light to blink 3 times and stay lit while the fan runs on high: you're paired.
  5. No luck? Repeat the power off/on step and press Learn a little sooner.

Tip: have a helper at the wall switch so you can press Learn the moment you hear the tones.

In the box: Wakefield replacement remote, mounting cradle with screws, instructions. Add one A23 battery.

Frequently Asked Questions

Will this remote work on my Wakefield fan?

Yes, if your fan is a Harbor Breeze Wakefield and its receiver works. The fan's manual or box shows the name.

I have two Wakefield fans. Do I need two remotes?

Yes, one per fan. Pair each with the other fan switched off, and use the DIP switch if they ever interfere.

Does it dim the light?

Yes. Press and hold the light button to dim dimmable bulbs.

How do I change the battery?

Open the battery cover, put in a fresh 12V A23 with + and - matching the marks, and close it. You usually won't need to pair again.

What do the two tones mean?

The receiver plays two tones when power returns. That's the start of the 30-second window for pressing Learn.

What if pairing fails?

Repeat the power off and on step, then press Learn a little sooner. A fresh battery helps too.

When will my order ship?

In-stock orders placed by 4 PM, Monday to Friday, ship the same business day.

What is your return policy?

You can return items within 90 days. Items must be unused and uninstalled, in their original packaging. No restocking fees. Please read our return policy before sending anything back. Questions? Call (816) 586-8457 or email info@fanremotes.com.

Is there a warranty?

Yes. Every product we sell comes with a 1-year warranty against defects. If it fails because of a defect, contact us and we’ll send a replacement.
