About the Harbor Breeze RDS52MW6LR Receiver

Your RDS52MW6LR is a 52-in Harbor Breeze Reidsport ceiling fan with a matte white finish. The receiver is the small box in the canopy that turns remote signals into fan and light commands, and it is the part that usually quits first. Swap in this receiver and you get three speeds, off and light dimming back on the remote.

The model label on top of the motor housing should read RDS52MW6LR; if it does, you are in the right place. There are no DIP switches to set; it learns your remote in about 30 seconds.

Getting into the canopy

The receiver sits inside the canopy, the cover that hides the mounting bracket at the ceiling. Most canopies come down after you loosen two or more screws and slide the cover down the downrod. Have a helper or a sturdy ladder platform so the canopy is not hanging by its wires.

Keep the old receiver until you are done

Set the old receiver aside rather than tossing it right away. Its label is handy if you need to contact us, and comparing the two side by side helps you match each wire. Once the new one is working, you can recycle the old part.

Setup & Pairing

Have your remote and a fresh battery ready before you begin.

1. Shut off the RDS52MW6LR circuit at the breaker before you start.
2. Lower the canopy and disconnect the old receiver, noting which wire went where.
3. Connect the new receiver with wire nuts the same way the old one was connected.
4. Switch off other ceiling fans in the area so they stay out of the pairing.
5. Flip the breaker on and, inside about 30 seconds, press and hold 0 on the remote. Two blinks from the light mean it paired.
6. Cycle through the speeds and the light to confirm everything responds.
