Will This Remote Fit?
This remote is made to replace the FA0188A. Check the label on your old remote (often inside the battery cover) — if it reads FA0188A, this is the one you need.

About the Harbor Breeze FA0188A Remote
A missing FA0188A remote leaves your Harbor Breeze fan and light stuck on whatever setting they were left on. Our replacement restores three speeds, light on/off and dimming, color temperature, breeze mode, a shut-off timer and Home Shield.
Check the back of your old remote or the battery compartment for the number. If it reads FA0188A, you've found the right page. Setup is simple: restore power to the fan, press LEARN, and you're done.
- Light on/off and dimming from across the room
- Color temperature selection on color-changing LED lights
- Home Shield light cycling while you're away
- Wall mount and screws included so the remote stays put
New home, no remote?
Previous owners often take the remote or lose it in the move. Start with the model number on the fan's motor label or any boxes left in the garage. Match it to the listings in our store, and you can be back in control as soon as the new remote and a battery arrive.
Where the remote's number is printed
Turn the old remote over and check the label on the back, then slide off the battery cover and look inside. The number is usually printed in one of those two spots. If the label is worn away, the fan's model number works just as well for choosing a replacement.
Before you order
- Only for fans that came with the FA0188A remote. Check the number on the back of your old remote or in the battery compartment.
- Not for Harbor Breeze Mac II fans (42468, 42481), which use a different remote, or for remotes with DIP switches or 2 x AAA batteries.
- No receiver included, and not a universal remote.
Setup & Pairing
- Put a new A23 battery in the remote, matching the + mark.
- Switch off the fan for around 10 seconds using the wall switch or breaker, then restore power.
- Right away, within the 30-second window, press the LEARN button in the battery compartment.
- Watch for the fan or light to respond. No response? Power-cycle again and press LEARN a little sooner.
- Test each fan speed and the light buttons, then mount the holder on the wall.
In the box: FA0188A replacement remote, wall mount holder, mounting screws. Battery not included.

Frequently Asked Questions
Why does it only work when I stand close?
A weak battery is the usual cause. Put in a fresh A23 and re-pair if needed.
My fan doesn't respond after pairing. What now?
Turn the power off for at least 10 seconds, turn it back on and press LEARN within 30 seconds. Make sure the wall switch stays on.
What is Home Shield?
It cycles the fan light on and off while you're away so your home looks occupied.
How do I know my old remote is an FA0188A?
Look on the back of the remote or inside the battery cover. If the label reads FA0188A, this is the replacement made for it.
Is there a warranty?
Yes. It's covered by our 1-year warranty.
When will my order ship?
In-stock orders placed by 4 PM, Monday to Friday, ship the same business day.
