About the Comfort Direct CHQ8011T Remote

Our replacement for the CHQ8011T puts High, Medium, Low and Off, reverse and a dimmable light back in your hand. You'll usually find CHQ8011T printed after the letters FCC on a sticker on the back, or molded into the plastic beside the battery. Inside its battery compartment you'll find four small code switches, the same as this one.

We built this one for fans that shipped with the CHQ8011T. Match four code switches to the receiver and it's ready.

Skip the factory setting

Don't leave the remote and receiver on the all-up factory pattern. Pick a different pattern and set it on both. It cuts the chance of a neighbor's remote, or another device, moving your fan.

Not for learning-code receivers

Some receivers pair by pressing and holding buttons instead of matching switches. This remote needs a receiver with four DIP code switches; it won't pair with learning-code receivers.

Before you order

Check the back or battery compartment of your old remote. Remotes with other numbers often use a different frequency and won't work.
This is a remote only. If the receiver in your fan has failed, a new remote won't fix it.

Setup & Pairing

Have a pen or small screwdriver handy for the DIP switches.

Shut off the fan's circuit at the breaker.
Open the battery cover on the remote to find the 4 code switches. The receiver in the fan canopy has a matching set.
Set the remote and receiver to one matching up/down pattern with a pen tip, avoiding the all-up factory setting.
Restore power and test. If the fan or light turns on or off by itself, choose a new pattern and set it on both the remote and the receiver.

If a neighbor's fan or your garage door reacts, change the pattern on both the receiver and the remote.

How do I pair it?

Turn off power, then set the 4 DIP switches in the remote to the same pattern as the switches on your fan's receiver. Restore power and it's ready.

My fan or light turns on by itself. What's wrong?

A nearby remote is probably using the same code. Pick a new DIP switch pattern and set it on both the remote and the receiver.

Will this work with my fan?
