About the Hampton Bay 54-WWD Remote

The Hampton Bay 54-WWD is the Windward II 54-inch ceiling fan, sold in white or brushed steel. Our replacement remote handles down-light dimming, three speeds and reverse from your chair, so the fan works the way it did out of the box. It's the reverse version, with a For/Rev key and no Fan Timer key.

It is made for the Hampton Bay 54-WWD. Check the model sticker on the fan: if it reads 54-WWD, this is the remote you need. No programming: set the switches to match the receiver.

Before you climb the ladder

If you need to read the receiver, turn the fan off at the breaker, not just the wall switch. Use a sturdy step ladder and have someone hold it and pass you tools. Lower the canopy cover carefully, since the fan's weight hangs on the bracket, not the cover. Snap a photo of the receiver label and switches, then close everything before power goes back on.

The For/Rev key

The For/Rev key changes the fan's direction from your chair. Use it to switch between a summer downdraft and a gentle winter updraft without touching the motor housing. This is the reverse version, so it has no Fan Timer key.

Before you order

This is the reverse version. If your old remote has a Fan Timer key and no reverse key, order our Fan Timer version instead.

Setup & Pairing

Setup is a matter of matching a few tiny switches; no programming is involved.

Switch the breaker for the fan off before you start.
Slide off the battery cover on the new remote. The 4 DIP switches are inside the battery compartment.
Note the switch pattern on your old remote; without it, read the receiver in the canopy.
Match all four switches, add four AAA batteries and replace the cover.
Turn the power back on and test the fan speeds and light.

Take a photo of the final switch pattern and keep it with your fan's manual.

Not if you still have your old remote: copy its DIP switch pattern. Without it, you'll need to read the switches on the receiver in the fan canopy, with the power off at the breaker.
