About the Harbor Breeze 42473 Remote

Your Harbor Breeze 42473 is the 52-inch Oxford ceiling fan in brushed nickel, Lowe's item 3856481. Lose the remote and you lose control of the fan. Our replacement restores High, Medium, Low and Off plus light control. It pairs with the AM-3L receiver built into the Oxford 52-in, with no changes in the canopy.

Keeping it clean

Wipe the remote with a soft cloth that is barely damp. Never spray cleaner straight onto it, because liquid can seep under the buttons. Take the battery out first if you're cleaning more than a smudge, and let it dry fully before you put the battery back.

Finding the Learn button

The Learn button sits inside the battery compartment, so open the cover before you touch the wall switch. It's small, and a fingertip or pen tip works fine. Have the remote ready in your hand, since the 30-second window starts the moment power comes back.

Setup & Pairing

Here's how to pair the new remote with the receiver in your fan.

Install one 12V A23 battery in the remote.
Turn the fan's power off at the wall switch or breaker.
Turn the power back on.
Within 30 seconds, press the Learn button inside the remote's battery compartment.
The fan runs on low and the light turns off when pairing is done.

If two fans share the breaker, switch the other one off at its wall switch while you pair.
