About the Harbor Breeze 40092 Remote

If your Harbor Breeze 40092 has been running at one speed since its remote disappeared, this replacement puts you back in charge. It covers high, medium and low, turns the fan off with its own button, and dims the light on the D setting.

It's made for the 40092 and learns the receiver already in the fan. Look at the model sticker on the motor housing: if it reads 40092, you've found the right remote. Setup is a power cycle and a 5-second press of Learn.

Battery care

A23 batteries are small 12-volt cells sold at most hardware and grocery stores. Take the battery out if you'll be away for months, and wipe the contacts with a dry cloth if they look dull. Shorter range, or a button that needs two presses, is usually the first sign a battery is fading.

The High and Low pairing method

Some owner's manuals pair a little differently: after restoring power, hold the High and Low buttons together for 5 seconds within 30 seconds. If the Learn button method doesn't take on your fan, try this one. Either way, keep other fans switched off while you pair.

Before you order

Compare the buttons on your old remote with this one: High, Medium, Low, a separate off button and a light button.

Setup & Pairing

Put one 12V A23 battery in the 40092 remote, matching the + and - marks.
Cut power to neighboring fans of the same type first; otherwise they may pair as well.
Switch the fan off at its wall switch or breaker, wait a few seconds, and restore power.
Within 30 seconds, press and hold the Learn button inside the battery compartment for about 5 seconds.
A paired fan starts running on low with the light off. If that doesn't happen, start over from the power step.

Tip: have a helper at the wall switch so you can press Learn the moment power comes back.

In the box: one 40092 replacement remote, a wall holder plus screws, and printed instructions. The A23 battery is sold separately.

Usually not. Flicker at low levels points to bulbs that aren't rated for dimming. Try dimmable bulbs, or set the switch to CFL.

They might if both are powered while you pair. Turn the other fan off at its switch, then pair each one separately.
