About the Hampton Bay 360396 Receiver

When the receiver in a Hampton Bay San Juan quits, the remote stops doing anything. This Comfort Direct replacement brings back three fan speeds plus off and control of both the uplight and the downlight, each with dimming.

Wiring both lights

The house black and white go to the receiver's AC-in leads, and the motor leads go to the fan's black and white motor wires. The two light leads go to the downlight and uplight wires as labeled on the receiver. Cap any light lead you don't use.

Up and down light, or downlight only?

Look at your fan. If it has lights pointing up as well as down, and the old receiver has separate leads for each, this up and down light receiver is the right one. It also runs a single-light fan, with the spare lead capped.

Before you order

This is the up and down light receiver. If your fan has only a downlight and your old receiver has a single light lead, our downlight-only receiver is the simpler match.
It doesn't add reverse. Reverse only works if your fan already has its own reverse module.

Setup & Pairing

Here's the install from start to finish.

Turn off power to the fan at the breaker, then lower the canopy to reach the old receiver.
Copy your remote's four-switch pattern onto the new receiver's DIP switches.
Snap a picture of the old wiring before you disconnect anything.
Connect it with the included wire nuts: house black and white to the AC-in leads, the motor leads to the fan's black and white motor wires, and the light leads to your downlight and uplight wires as labeled. Cap any light lead you don't use.
Set the antenna flat on the receiver, fold the wires into the canopy, refit it and restore power.
Check low, medium, high, off, the uplight and the downlight.
