About the Harbor Breeze 2AQZU-18053 Remote
A dropped, chewed or simply worn-out 2AQZU-18053 doesn't mean a new fan. This remote restores six DC fan speeds, reverse, a dimmable light and a 2, 4 or 8-hour timer. You'll usually find 2AQZU-18053 printed after the letters FCC on a sticker on the back, or molded into the plastic beside the battery. Compare the layout: six speed keys, reverse, a light key with dimming, timer keys and breeze. That's what this remote has.
Your old remote should carry 2AQZU-18053 on its label; if it does, this replacement fits. There are no DIP switches; hold the Learn button right after a power cycle.
- Six fan speeds plus off for DC-motor fans
- Dims the light from the remote
- Timer: 2, 4 or 8 hours
How learning-code pairing works
A learning-code receiver opens a short listening window right after it gets power. During that window it stores the ID of the remote that sends the pairing signal, and after that it ignores other remotes. That's why pairing always starts by switching the fan off and on at the wall or breaker. If you miss the window, simply cycle the power and try again.
Made for DC motors
DC-motor fans use less power than older AC fans and offer finer speed control, which is why this remote has six speeds instead of three. It won't run an AC-motor fan. If you're not sure which you have, the motor label or manual will say DC.
Before you order
- Not for fans that use a DIP-switch remote. This remote pairs with a learning-code receiver using the Learn button.
Setup & Pairing
Pairing takes a couple of minutes.
- Install two fresh AAA batteries in the remote.
- Cycle the fan's power at the wall switch or breaker.
- Without waiting, press and hold Learn inside the battery compartment until the fan answers.
Pair again if the receiver is ever replaced.
In the box: 2AQZU-18053 replacement remote, plus a wall bracket and screws.
