Lowe's item 1117038 is a Harbor Breeze ceiling fan that came with a remote and a receiver in its canopy. Remote control problems on a fan this age usually trace back to the receiver hidden above the fan. Swap in this receiver and you get three speeds, off and light dimming back on the remote.

Wire leads or a square plug?

Setup & Pairing

You need a ladder, a screwdriver and a voltage tester.

Switch off the breaker that feeds the fan, then confirm the power is off.
Loosen the canopy screws, slide the canopy down and take a photo of the old receiver wiring before you disconnect it.
Hook up the replacement receiver with wire nuts exactly as the old one was wired, then tuck it into the canopy.
Switch off other ceiling fans in the area so they stay out of the pairing.
Bring the power back and press and hold the remote's 0 button within about 30 seconds; let go when the light blinks twice.
Test each fan speed and the light.
