About the Harbor Breeze 42862 Remote

The 42862 is a Reverdy ceiling fan made to be run by remote. If yours has quit or disappeared, this Comfort Direct replacement restores the full set: three speeds, dimming, light color, breeze mode, the timer and Home Shield.

If your fan's model label shows 42862, this remote fits. Put in the A23 battery, power-cycle the fan, press LEARN, and you're back in control.

Use the wall holder by the door or keep the remote on the nightstand, but give it one spot. Remotes that live on the couch end up under the cushions. In a bedroom, a holder within reach of the bed means you never have to get up to change the fan.

A quick ordering checklist

Read the fan's model number from the motor label or the box. Check the old remote's back or battery compartment for its number. Make sure the old remote had a LEARN button, not a row of DIP switches, and used one A23 battery rather than two AAA. Then you're set.

Setup & Pairing

Pairing takes about a minute.

Install one 12V A23 battery in the remote.
Cut power to the Harbor Breeze 42862 for roughly 10 seconds at the switch or breaker and turn it back on.
Before 30 seconds pass, press LEARN inside the battery compartment with a pen tip.
The fan or light responds to confirm pairing. If not, repeat the power cycle and press LEARN again within 30 seconds.
Test each fan speed and the light buttons, then mount the holder on the wall.
