Ladder safety
Use a ladder tall enough that you can work at shoulder height without standing on the top steps. Set it on level ground, keep tools in a pouch rather than on the top rung, and have a second person nearby when you lower the canopy.
Seasonal direction
In summer, run the fan counterclockwise, viewed from below, for a cooling breeze. In winter, clockwise on low gently pushes warm air down from the ceiling. If your fan has a direction switch on the motor housing, stop the fan completely before you flip it.

Setup & Pairing
Plan on about an hour, most of it spent at the canopy.
- Turn off power to the fan at the breaker.
- Remove the canopy cover and unhook the old receiver, keeping track of every wire.
- Hook up the replacement receiver with wire nuts exactly as the old one was wired, then tuck it into the canopy.
- Switch off other ceiling fans in the area so they stay out of the pairing.
- Turn the breaker back on. Within about 30 seconds, press and hold the remote's 0 (fan off) button until the light blinks twice.
- Run all three speeds and try the light and dimming.
Tip: leave the wall switch on, since the receiver needs power to work.
