About the Harbor Breeze 42482 Remote
Model 42482 is Harbor Breeze's 52-inch Boltz II ceiling fan in brushed nickel, fitted with a color-changing LED light. If the original remote broke or disappeared, this one brings back three speeds and light control, with no DIP switches to set. It works with the fan's MR173B receiver, so the canopy stays closed.
Owners of the 42482 can order with confidence once the model sticker matches. You'll need one 12V A23 battery, then a quick power cycle to pair it.
- Takes a single 12V A23 battery, sold separately
- Backed by our 1-year warranty
- Fits in one hand at about 2 by 4.5 inches
Getting full range
This remote talks to the fan by radio, so you don't need to aim it, and the signal passes through the canopy and light glass. Range drops as the battery weakens, and large metal objects between you and the fan can cut it down. If it only works up close, a new battery fixes it most of the time.
A look-alike to watch for
The remote marked A25-TX001-R1 looks very close to this remote, but it runs on 315 MHz and won't talk to these receivers. The difference is one character in small print, so read the label in good light or take a photo and zoom in. When in doubt, send us the photo.
Before you order
- It pairs with one remote per receiver, so it won't run a setup with two remotes on one fan.
Setup & Pairing
There are no DIP switches; the remote learns the receiver's code.
- Install one 12V A23 battery in the remote.
- Cut power to the fan with the wall switch or breaker.
- Wait a few seconds, then restore power.
- Within 30 seconds, press the Learn button inside the remote's battery compartment.
- Pairing is complete when the fan runs on low and the light switches off.
If the fan doesn't respond, cycle the power and press Learn again within 30 seconds.

Frequently Asked Questions
Will this replacement remote for the Harbor Breeze 42482 fit my ceiling fan?
It fits the 1 model listed under Compatible Models on this page. If your model isn’t listed, call us at (816) 586-8457 and we’ll check for you.
Do I need to set DIP switches?
No. This remote learns your receiver's code after a power cycle and a press of the Learn button.
Do I need a new receiver?
No. It learns the MR173B receiver already in the fan.
What frequency does it use?
It runs in the 304 MHz band, the same as the learning-code receivers in these fans.
Do I have to point the remote at the fan?
No. It works by radio, so you don't need a clear line of sight. Weak batteries and distance are what limit its reach.
Will a new remote fix a fan that won't run at all?
Only if the old remote was the problem. If the fan won't run, hums, or sticks on one speed, the receiver may have failed, and a new remote can't fix that. Call us and we'll help you sort it out.
When will my order ship?
In-stock orders placed by 4 PM, Monday to Friday, ship the same business day.
What is your return policy?
You can return items within 90 days. Items must be unused and uninstalled, in their original packaging. No restocking fees. Please read our return policy before sending anything back. Questions? Call (816) 586-8457 or email info@fanremotes.com.
Is there a warranty?
Yes. Every product we sell comes with a 1-year warranty against defects. If it fails because of a defect, contact us and we’ll send a replacement.
