About the Harbor Breeze 40093 Remote
Harbor Breeze 40093 is a 52-inch fan whose owner's manual shows a 12-volt remote with a D/CFL light switch, and this replacement has both. If the original is lost, it restores three speeds, a dedicated off button and dimming.
Confirm that the model on your fan's sticker or manual reads 40093. Then switch the fan off and on and, within 30 seconds, hold the Learn button until the fan starts on low with the light off.
- Runs on one 12V A23 battery (not included)
- Switches and dims the light; a D/CFL slide sets on/off only for non-dimmable bulbs
- 315 MHz RF signal, so you don't have to point it at the fan
Where to mount the wall holder
Put the holder near the room's main entry, around switch height, so the remote sits where you already reach for the lights. Skip spots above a heater vent or in direct afternoon sun, since heat is hard on batteries. The inside of a closet door works if you want it out of sight.
Dead remote or failed receiver?
Before you blame the receiver, put in a fresh A23 and re-pair. If the fan and light still do nothing at all, even right after you cycle the power, the receiver in the canopy may be at fault. A new remote can't revive a failed receiver, so rule that out if the fan quit after a storm or surge.
Before you order
- Compare the buttons on your old remote with this one: High, Medium, Low, a separate off button and a light button.
Setup & Pairing
- Start by loading a 12V A23 battery (sold separately) into the 40093 remote, checking the polarity marks.
- Have other similar fans switched off at the wall before you begin.
- Flip the fan's circuit off, then on, to open its pairing window.
- Quickly, within the 30-second window, hold Learn in the battery compartment for around 5 seconds.
- Watch for the fan to start on low, light off. That means success; otherwise repeat the last two steps.
- Alternate method from some manuals: after power returns, press and hold High and Low at once for 5 seconds.
In the box: the 40093 replacement remote, its wall mount and screws, and a set of instructions (battery not included).

Frequently Asked Questions
Will this replacement remote for the Harbor Breeze 40093 fit my ceiling fan?
It fits the 1 model listed under Compatible Models on this page. If your model isn’t listed, call us at (816) 586-8457 and we’ll check for you.
Can I keep the 40093 remote on the wall?
Yes. A wall holder and screws are included, so the remote can live by the door.
Will it dim the light on my 40093?
Yes. Keep the D/CFL switch on D and the light button dims the light. Use dimmable bulbs for smooth steps.
Is there a warranty?
Yes. Every remote is covered by our 1-year warranty.
It stopped working after a storm. What now?
Pair it again: power cycle the fan, then hold Learn for about 5 seconds within 30 seconds. If that doesn't help, try a fresh A23.
How long does pairing take?
About a minute. Cycle the fan's power, then hold Learn for about 5 seconds within 30 seconds.
Can one remote run two fans?
We suggest one remote per fan. If two fans learn the same remote, they will respond together.
When will my order ship?
In-stock orders placed by 4 PM, Monday to Friday, ship the same business day.
What is your return policy?
You can return items within 90 days. Items must be unused and uninstalled, in their original packaging. No restocking fees. Please read our return policy before sending anything back. Questions? Call (816) 586-8457 or email info@fanremotes.com.
