About the Harbor Breeze 00885 Remote

The 00885 is a 60-inch Harbor Breeze Saratoga. A fan that size is often the main air mover in a big room, so six speeds and Natural Breeze matter. This replacement remote brings them back, along with reverse, dimming and the sleep timer.

Check that the model on your fan's sticker or manual reads 00885. Then restore power, listen for the two tones and press Learn; the fan starting on high tells you it's paired.

Find your fan's model number

Most ceiling fans have a model sticker on top of the motor housing, near the downrod, so bring a step ladder and a flashlight. Turn the fan off and let the blades stop first. The owner's manual and the original box list the model too, and a Lowe's receipt shows the item number.

Setting the sleep timer

The timer shuts the fan off after 2, 4 or 8 hours. Pick the shortest one that gets you to sleep, so the fan isn't running all night once the room has cooled. It's also handy in a kid's room, where nobody remembers to switch the fan off in the morning.

Before you order

The Saratoga II (model 00581) uses a different remote, the A25-TX007, and this one won't work with it.

Setup & Pairing

Put a 12V A23 battery in the 00885 remote, matching the + and - marks.
Switch the fan off at its wall switch or breaker, then restore power and listen for two tones.
Within 30 seconds, press the Learn button on the back of the remote.
Success looks like three blinks of the light, then the light staying on and the fan running on high.
No luck? Repeat the power off/on step and press Learn a little sooner.

Tip: write the pairing steps on a sticky note inside a cabinet door for next time.
