About the Sanyo Mini-Split Remote

Sanyo no longer sells ductless systems under its own name in the US, but many Sanyo wall units are still cooling and heating homes years later. The catch is the remote: finding a handheld for an older Sanyo can be hard. This replacement is set up for Sanyo so you can keep that equipment in service.

Sanyo has one of the longest code lists we carry, fifty-four in all, reflecting many years of models. Sanyo owners have reported code 0529 working on units such as the KHS1872, so it's worth a try if the early codes don't respond. The automatic search is the last resort.

Setup & Pairing

Sanyo has a long list, so set aside a little time and work through it calmly.

1. Install two AAA batteries.
2. Slide the panel on the lower front down. SELECT is behind it, and the tiny number in each key's lower-left corner is the digit it enters.
3. Press SELECT so the code area flashes, then enter a Sanyo code and test with the power key.
4. Sanyo codes, in order: 0046 through 0095 (one at a time, in order), then 0529, 0530, 0558, 1582. Sanyo owners have reported 0529 working on units such as the KHS1872, so you may want to try it early.
5. Once the unit responds, check mode, temperature, fan and swing. A Sanyo unit that reacts while one key stays dead usually just needs the next Sanyo code.
6. If no code works, aim at the unit, press and hold SELECT for 5 seconds, then release. When the unit responds, press any key immediately to save that code. The search can take a while.

When it works: write the code down, set the clock with CLOCK and TIME +/-, and use C/F to choose °F or °C.
