About the Mitsubishi Electric MS16A Remote

MS16A is the marking printed on many Mitsubishi wall-unit remotes. This replacement is the MS16A for the smaller-capacity units, giving you back mode, temperature, fan speed, vane swing, timer and memory without any programming.

MS16A also shows up on the remote for larger 18,000 and 24,000 BTU units, so check your indoor unit's model label before you order. If its size digits read 09, 12 or 15, you're in the right place.

Keep the receiver window clean

The indoor unit reads the remote through a small dark window on its front. Over time dust, cooking film or smoke residue can dull it. With the power off, wipe it with a soft, dry cloth. It takes a few seconds and can make a big difference if the unit has become picky about where you stand.

Changing seasons

If your unit heats as well as cools, the Mode button is how you switch between them. When the weather turns, change the mode, check the set temperature and give the unit a few minutes to settle. It's also a good moment to put fresh batteries in the remote so it's ready for the months ahead.

Go by your indoor unit's model number if the old remote's label is worn.

Model-specific, not universal: it won't run other AC brands.

Where is the model label on my indoor unit?

Lift the front panel and look just under its edge. On many units there is also a label on the right side of the case.

My old remote says MS16A. How do I know this is the right one?

Go by your indoor unit. This MS16A remote is for 9,000 to 15,000 BTU units; if yours is 18,000 or 24,000 BTU, choose our E22P88426 instead.

Will it run a different brand of AC?

No. It's made for the matching wall units only, not other brands.
