About the Pioneer Mini-Split Remote

Pioneer mini-splits are a favorite with do-it-yourself installers, sold widely online for shops, sunrooms and single rooms. Since the system was probably bought online, there's usually no dealer down the street to sell you a new remote. This one fills that gap.

We want to be upfront about the code. Pioneer isn't printed as its own entry in the code list. Our starting code, 0259, is the code Pioneer owners have reported working on their mini-splits. It's worth trying first, but the real backstop is the automatic search, which cycles through the remote's codes until your indoor unit reacts.

When it's paired, expect:

Power, Cool, Heat, Dry, Fan and Auto
Fan speed and swing
Timers and sleep
A backlit LCD with clock, room temperature and °F/°C

The remote is infrared with about 25 ft of range, comes with a wall bracket, and takes two AAA batteries that you supply. If it won't control your Pioneer, return it within 90 days. Same-day shipping when you order by 4 PM Central.

Setup & Pairing

Two routes: the 0259 code, or the automatic search if that misses.

Open the back and drop in two AAA batteries.
Slide the front cover at the bottom of the remote down. SELECT is behind it, and the digit you need from each key is printed in its bottom-left corner.
Press SELECT (the code flashes) and enter 0259.
Point at the Pioneer head and press power. If it turns on, test mode, set temperature and fan before you move on.

Auto-search, if 0259 does nothing or leaves keys dead:

Stand facing the indoor unit with a clear path.
Hold SELECT for 5 seconds, then release. The remote begins sending codes one at a time.
The moment the unit beeps or switches, press any key to lock in that code.
Check the other buttons. Missing functions? Run the search again.

Be patient: one retail listing says a complete pass can take up to about 45 minutes. Once it's done, set the clock with CLOCK and TIME +/−, and pick °F or °C with C/F.

Where did code 0259 come from?

Pioneer owners have reported 0259 working on their mini-splits. It isn't guaranteed for every Pioneer model, so the automatic search is your backup.

How long does the auto-search take?

It varies. One retail listing says a full pass can take up to about 45 minutes. Keep the remote pointed at the indoor unit the whole time.

I installed my Pioneer myself. Does that matter?

No. The remote talks to the indoor unit by infrared, so how it was installed doesn't affect setup.

Can I write down the code it finds?

If 0259 works, note it. The instructions don't give a way to read back a code found by auto-search, so that one can't be looked up later.

Will it work if I'm behind the indoor unit?

Infrared needs a line of sight, so point the remote at the front of the head from up to about 25 feet.
